Vincent did not respond.
He stared at Elena.
In thirty years, no one had managed to surprise him twice in the same night.
Yet, in one way or another, the discreet chambermaid who folded his shirts and served him his morning espresso had already done it.
Twice.
“What do you mean?” he asked silently, without uttering a word.
Elena finally removed her hand from her mouth.
Her voice was so soft that it was barely audible.
“They’re not here to steal your empire.”
She swallowed.
“They are here to erase your lineage.”
As he stepped out of the closet, Marcus stopped walking.
“The girl,” he said.
Those words paralyzed Vincent.
“Has anyone found her?” asked Marcus.
One of the men replied.
